Recently, we have received comments from some retailers that some bottles of these three brands have exploded. For the Stout and Pilsner, we do not know if these are isolated incidents or are related to a specific production date, as it will take several days or weeks to pinpoint the problem. Therefore, we will recall the beers in the following manner:
– Oatmeal Stout – recall all production dates
– Pilsner – recall all production dates
– Session Houblon (India Session Ale) – Recall the following production dates: 02/08/2018, 03/08/2018, 06/08/2018
The production date is on the back of the label in a white box. Please note that the consumption of the beer itself does not pose a health risk, but the bottle may be under high pressure, posing a risk of explosion.
Retailers: We ask all of our retailers to remove these three brands from shelves and keep them in their warehouse. We will collect the bottles and provide a full credit. We thank our retailers for their prompt attention to this problem, and we are also contacting you directly.
To consumers: You have two options: if you intend to consume the beers, you should refrigerate the bottles immediately. By refrigerating the bottles, you also reduce the gas pressure in the bottle, making them safer to handle.
If you do not want to consume the beer, please dispose of it carefully and take extra precautions, such as putting bottles in a plastic bag, wearing gloves and safety goggles if possible. We do not know how many bottles could be affected, but we would prefer that you be very careful when handling bottles. If you throw out the bottles, please contact the brewery directly for a credit (ideally with a photo of the date on the label) – and do not bring the bottles back to the store for credit. We will provide credit directly so as not to increase the workload of retailers. You can contact us at rappel@microlecastor.ca, or 450 451 2337.
Thank you very much for your cooperation and understanding – we are working hard to correct the situation. Please accept our sincerest apologies.
